چکیده

Fast Scan Cyclic Voltammetry (FSCV) relies on detection of amperometric changes resulting from specific oxidation and reduction events during rapid voltage cycling on an implanted carbon fiber electrode (CFE). Previous systems have documented FSCV recording for detection of dopamine[1], norpeinepherine[2] and serotonin[3] using both tethered[1] & wireless[2,4,5] recording devices. We have developed two complete turn-key systems compromising a 34 μm recording electrode, hardware and software to continuously record FSCV data from freely moving mice (tethered) and rats (wireless).

Detecting subsecond dopamine release with fast-scan cyclic voltammetry in vivo.

BACKGROUND Dopamine is a potent neuromodulator in the brain, influencing a variety of motivated behaviors and involved in several neurologic diseases. Measurements of extracellular dopamine in the brains of experimental animals have traditionally focused on a tonic timescale (minutes to hours). However, dopamine concentrations are now known to fluctuate on a phasic timescale (subseconds to seco...

Dopamine Dynamics during Continuous Intracranial Self-Stimulation: Effect of Waveform on Fast-Scan Cyclic Voltammetry Data

The neurotransmitter dopamine is heavily implicated in intracranial self-stimulation (ICSS). Many drugs of abuse that affect ICSS behavior target the dopaminergic system, and optogenetic activation of dopamine neurons is sufficient to support self-stimulation. However, the patterns of phasic dopamine release during ICSS remain unclear. Early ICSS studies using fast-scan cyclic voltammetry (FSCV...

Alumina nanoparticles modified carbon paste electrode as a new voltammetric sensor for determination of dopamine

The present study examines a new dopamine sensor based on Alumina nanoparticles modified carbon paste electrode (Al2O3NPsCPE). Moreover, the present study focuses on the electrochemical act of the Al2O3NPsCPE for the detection of dopamine by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). There is also a focus on the specification of the prepared modified electrode by electroc...

Cortical Control of Striatal Dopamine Transmission via Striatal Cholinergic Interneurons

Corticostriatal regulation of striatal dopamine (DA) transmission has long been postulated, but ionotropic glutamate receptors have not been localized directly to DA axons. Striatal cholinergic interneurons (ChIs) are emerging as major players in striatal function, and can govern DA transmission by activating nicotinic receptors (nAChRs) on DA axons. Cortical inputs to ChIs have historically be...
